It was a great week of competition at the 2008 GOODE
Water Ski National Championships in West Palm Beach, FL.
The weather was HOT and so were the performances of the
competitors. It was great to see so many friends and to see GOODE Skis
sweep ALL divisions on the opening day, including the prestigious Open
Men's and Open Women's divisions.
We unveiled 3 revolutionary new products; The 9900SL Series of
skis, the GOODE PowerVest System, and the PowerShell 5 System
on the opening day and all were very well received by the skiers and
spectators at the Nationals!
WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Nick Parsons (Bountiful, UT) won the Open
Men's division by running 2-1/2 buoys @ 39-1/2' off, beating Chris
Parrish who ran 2 buoys @ 39-1/2' off. Nick also won last year, in
2007, beating Chris Parrish by 4-1/2 buoys.
Nick was riding the newly announced GOODE 9900SL "WIDE
RIDE". The 9900SL "WIDE RIDE" has an extra wide forebody to help
provide support at the buoy while running short-line. The 9900SL
"WIDE RIDE" is the result of a two year R & D project. US National
Champion, Nick Parsons (pictured to the left), has risen to #3 on
the Elite World Standing List using the "WIDE RIDE".
"I am very proud of Nick.", said Dave Goode. "We ski together
several times a week and the new 9900SL WIDE RIDE that we designed
for him is really working well.", Goode continues. "You can see
the advantage that it is giving to him. Being the 2007 and 2008 US
Champion is quite an accomplishment!"
WEST PALM BEACH, FL - April Coble-Eller (NC) rode her new GOODE
9900SL Maika'i to victory in the Open Women's division by running
1 buoy @ 39-1/2' off. Regina Jaquess (pictured on the right)
finished second. This victory marks April's first win of the
season.
"It is great to finally win one this year!", said a happy
April. "Regina told me just before I skied not to tie her this
time, so, I turned 4 ball and just kept going!", continues April.
"I love my new GOODE 9900SL. It is the best ski that I have ever
skied on. It is quick across the wake and turns ever so nicely.",
concluded April.
The 9900SL is a traditionally shaped ski, similar to previous
GOODE Ski Models. The new 9900SL ski is the next generation of the
winning 9800SL. The 9900SL has a firmer flex/torsion ratio than
its predecessor. Like the 9900SL "WIDE RIDE", the 9900SL uses an
extra layer of a new premium grade PURE Carbon Fiber. The 9900SL
is designed so that skiers can make an easy transition from
previous GOODE ski models.
GOODE introduced the GOODE PowerVest System on the opening
day of the 2008 GOODE Water Ski National Championships to a crowd
of enthusiatic skiers.
Skiers were invited to take the POWER- PULL Challenge. They
were fitted into a PowerVest and asked to pull on a static load
cell attached with a ski handle. Load force measurments were taken
with the both PowerVest on and off. The results were conclusive;
skiers wearing the PowerVest System could pull 25%-50% stronger,
with over 5 times the endurance of their results without using the
PowerVest System!
The PowerVest System features PowerGrip Gloves, Power-Straps, a
Load Distribution Panel (which is attached to the Power
Waist-Belt) and a Vest to hold everything together and provide
floatation.
The PowerVest System reduces load to your back in a similar
fashion to that of a hiking backpack . You want to carry the load
(or weight) on your hips, not your upper body and back.
By reducing excessive load forces to your upper body and back,
the PowerVest reduces muscle fatigue, reduces the repetitive
compressive load on your back and increases your strength and
endurance.
Pricing for the new GOODE 9900SL WIDE RIDE and 9900SL is $1,490.00
and $1,390.00 respectively. The 9800SL remains at $1,290.00.
Each ski comes with a 1 year LIMITED Warranty at the time of
puchase. Skiers have an option to purchase a 1 year EXTENDED
Warranty for $100.00 (a $249.00 value) at that time.
.
"As a manufacturer, we have been hit with raw material price
increases ranging from 10%-45% this past year.", explains Dave
Goode. "Carbon Fiber is an oil based product and it also requires
a lot of energy to process it into its final state. We have done
the best we can to keep our prices as low as possible for our
customers. Our 9900SL ski prices did increase $100.00 over last
year's 9800SL, however, we have added more carbon fiber and it's a
higher grade. The 9800SL prices did not increase.", Goode states.
"We continue to give our customers the best value in water skis.",
concludes Goode.
WEST PALM BEACH, FL - The 66th GOODE Water Ski National
Championships concluded Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Okeeheelee
Park in West Palm Beach, FL.
"It was an exhausting week of action and I was very pleased to
see GOODE Skis dominate most of the events. GOODE
Skis, once again, won more medals than all of the other ski brands
combined. Our final count is not officially in, however, I
estimate that GOODE won over 80% of the GOLD Medals this
year!", said Dave Goode. "It was great to watch both Nick Parsons
and April Coble-Eller win the Open Divisions on their new GOODE
9900's."
GOODE Ski Technologies has been proud to be the title
sponsor of the US National Championships for the past eleven
years.
