2016 GOODE Nationals To Be Held In Idaho

From USA Water Ski:

USA Water Ski and the American Water Ski Association are pleased to announce that the 2016 GOODE Water Ski National Championships will be held at Broadside Harbor in Caldwell, Idaho. The dates of the 74th Nationals will be Aug. 8-13, 2016. The American Water Ski Association, one of nine sport discipline organizations of USA Water Ski, approved the bid from the Broadside Harbor Ski Club via a board of directors vote.

Broadside Harbor, a private water ski development featuring two world record-capability water ski lakes, is located outside Boise. It hosted the 2010 Western Regional Water Ski Championships and also will serve as the site of the 2016 Western Regional Water Ski Championships. For more information on Broadside Harbor, visit www.broadsideharbor.com. It will mark the first time that the state of Idaho has ever hosted the U.S. Nationals, and the first time the Nationals will be held in the AWSA’s Western Region since 2007 (Arvin, Calif.). GOODE Skis, a gold level sponsor of USA Water Ski, has been the title sponsor of the Nationals since 2000.

GOODE skiers make their mark at Regionals

Bryce Tolman (middle), Tom Beardsley (left) and Barry Young finished 1-2-3 in Mens 4 at the Western Regionals.

With hundreds of skiers competing in the Western, South Central and Southern regional championships last week it’s tough to track all of the great performances put in on GOODE skis … but here are a few highlights that we know of:

  • Terry Winter took first place in Open Men with a new Western Regional Tournament record of three buoys at 41-feet off.  Nick Parsons finished second;
  • Makayla Haw and Alison Poulsen finished 1-2 in Open Women at the Western Regionals;
  • Lonnie Harris won the South Central Mens 5 title, with Steve Binkley taking second;
  • GOODE skiers swept the Western Regionals Mens 4 division, with Bryce Tolman taking first, Tom Beardsley second and Barry Young 3rd;
  • The Scott brothers both finished on top in the South Central Region, as Chase Scott won Boys 1 and big brother Tyler Scott won Mens 1;
  • In South Central Mens 3, Jay Leach took first and Chad Scott second;
  • Daniel Di Pol topped the field by an amazing seven buoys to take the South Central Boys 3 title;
  • Kevin Lundell and Tylor Brenchley placed first and fifth, respectively in the Western Region Mens 2 division; and,
  • Continuing the Lundell’s good weekend at the Western Regionals, Jessie Jo Lundell took fourth in Women’s 2, while her fellow Utahan Stacy Roberts took fifth.
