GOODE skiers top the world rankings

The preliminary October 2012 IWSF world rankings are out and the slalom rankings are chock-full of GOODE skiers.

Regina Jaquess continues her stranglehold on the top of Women’s slalom, adding the No. 1 ranking on the world rankings list to her top ranking on the IWSF Elite ranking skiers list. The Elite list is comprised of the placements from a handful of top professional tournaments in the world, while the IWSF world rankings are compiled by using each skier’s two best scores from all L and R tournaments.

In Men’s slalom, three GOODE skiers are in the top 10: Thomas Degasperi (4th), Terry Winter (9th) and Nick Parsons (10th).

GOODE is also very well represented in the Junior ranks as Samantha Dumala (2nd), Kara MacIntyre (3rd), Bailey Austin (4th), Erika Lang (6th) and Eloise Whitlock (8th) all landed in the top 10 of Junior Women.  Brando Caruso of Italy claimed the No. 1 ranking in Junior Boys and was joined by Dane Mechler (2nd), Wyatt Haines (4th) and Daniel Di Pol (9th) at the top of the list.

In Seniors, Karen Truelove (Women’s 35+) and Todd Ristorcelli (Men’s 35+) both claimed No. 1 rankings.

Regina takes first, T-Gas second at Soaked

Regina Jaquess and Karen Truelove rode their GOODE NANO ONEs to first and third place finishes at Soaked Orlando.

Regina Jaquess added the Soaked Orlando title to her increasingly historic 2012 haul, riding her GOODE NANO ONE to the Women’s slalom title at the inaugural event held last weekend in downtown Orlando.

Regina ran 1 buoy at 41-feet off on the four-ball course in both the semis and finals to earn the win. Manon Costard finished second with 0.5 buoy at 41-feet off, while Team GOODE’s Karen Truelove continued her strong year by taking third with 3 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off. Danyelle Bennett and Lauren Morgan rode their GOODE skis to 7th and 8th, respectively.

Regina has won titles this year at the U.S. Masters, GOODE Atlanta Pro Am, Malibu Open and now Soaked Orlando. She was recently named the 2012 WaterSki Magazine Female Slalom Skier of the Year.

In Men’s slalom, defending world champion Thomas Degasperi nearly pulled off a Team GOODE sweep, finishing second after four grueling runoffs with eventual champion Nate Smith. In the head-to-head finals, both Degasperi and Smith scored 1 buoy at 43-feet off three consecutive times. For the fourth runoff round, a tie-break rule was implemented that in the event of another tie, stipulated the win would be rewarded to the first skier off the dock, Nate. When both Nate and Thomas again skied 1 buoy at 43-feet off, the win went to Nate and Thomas took second.

Orlando to get Soaked this weekend

Soaked Orlando, professional water skiing’s newest and most certainly boldest tournament will take place this Friday and Saturday on Lake Eola in downtown Orlando.

Featuring Men’s and Women’s slalom and jumping, the event – which is billed as an extreme water sports and music festival – is aiming to bring water skiing to the masses by putting on an extravagant show that also includes exhibition freestyle tricking and wakeboarding, carnival rides, live graffiti art, and performances by more than 20 bands, including many nationally known acts.

Team GOODE will be well represented in the slalom competition as Karen Truelove, Lauren Morgan, Danyelle Bennett, Regina Jaquess, Adam Sedlmajer, Carlos Lamadrid, Thomas Degasperi, Nick Parsons, and Terry Winter are all scheduled to compete.

Terry continued his great skiing of late – he finished fifth at the U.S. Nationals and ran 3 buoys at 41-feet off at the Malibu Open – by finishing second in Men’s slalom, behind first-place finisher Nate Smith and ahead of third-place’s Chris Parrish.

Team GOODE skiers earn invites to 53rd Masters

GOODE Skis will be well represented when the 53rd Masters is held Memorial Day weekend at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, Ga.

On the Men’s slalom side, three of the eight invitees are Team GOODE members, as Thomas Degasperi, Adam Sedlmajer and Nick Parsons all earned invitations.

In Women’s slalom, Karen Truelove and world record holder Regina Jaquess made the field. New Team GOODE member Makayla Haw will defend her Junior Women’s championship from a year ago.
