Team GOODE kicked off the 2014 season with a big weekend at the Moomba Masters as two of its athletes won slalom titles and another two landed top-three finishes.
Thomas Degasperi won his first-ever Moomba crown with a final round score of 3 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off. As the top seed heading into the finals, Thomas knew what he needed to get in order to top Aaron Larkin and Brian Detrick, who took second and third, respectively, with 2-1/2 at 39. Fellow GOODE Teammate Adam Sedlmajer scored his second-consecutive top-five finish at Moomba by taking fifth, while Carlo Allais also advanced to the finals, finishing seventh.
In Women’s slalom, Team GOODE’s April Coble-Eller continued her great skiing of late by finishing third, behind champion Whitney McClintock and Emma Sheers.
In the Junior ranks Team GOODE swept the top-two spots in Girl’s slalom as Bailey Austin and Erika Lang finished atop the podium. In Boy’s slalom, new Team GOODE skier Eamon Van Der Merwe was the top seed heading into the finals but had his gates cut on his 32 off pass. But Eamon rebounded nicely in the Men’s slalom competition, advancing into the semi finals before taking 12th.
