Ristorcelli, Regina to face off in Bracket Challenge final round

Slalom fans are in for a treat as No. 1 seed Todd Ristorcelli is set to face off against the world’s No. 1 female slalom skier, Regina Jaquess, in the final round of the GOODE Virtual Water Ski Bracket ChallengeTM.  The championship match up will take place during a record-capability tournament Sept. 10-11, at GOODE Ski Lake in Ogden, Utah.

While Todd made it into the finals by posting a score of 2 buoys at 41-feet off at the Nautique Big Dawg World Tour Finals, it was the skier he ultimately edged that put in perhaps the most inspiring performance of the Bracket Challenge.  On a 39-1/2 off pass he needed to run to ultimately challenge Todd’s 41- off score, Kyle Tate was late rounding five ball but made a big charge across the wakes and attempted to throw his ski around six ball, unfortunately breaking his lower leg in the process and ending his Bracket Challenge chances.

In the other Final Four bracket, Chad Scott held a one buoy lead over Regina heading into the Cedar Ridge tournament, which they both skied in.  On Saturday Regina scored 3 at 41 to tie Chad, and then something pretty cool happened.

Instead of letting the contest rules determine the bracket winner (tie goes to the highest seed), they decided to use the second round on Sunday, Regina’s last round of the day, as a winner-take-all.  Regina seized the opportunity and beat Chad, 2 buoys at 41 off to his half buoy at the same line length.
