Team GOODE’s Regina Jaquess and Freddie Winter have been named BallofSpray’s Female and Breakout skiers of the year, respectively.
In giving Regina the award, BOS cited her domination in the slalom course in 2013:
Jaquess won every slalom event that she entered in 2013 and was once again standing at the top of the podium as she clinched not only the slalom title at the World Championships but also a new World Championship record of 1 @ 41off.
BOS also highlighted her all-around skiing abilities, which were capped with a world title in Women’s overall and top-5 finishes in tricks and jumping in several events throughout the year.
Freddie’s quick ascension to the upper ranks of the slalom world did not go unnoticed by BOS, which pointed to his 10-spot jump in the IWWF world rankings list, second-place finish at the Europeans and his huge score of 5 buoys at 41-feet off at the GOODE Bracket Challenge Finals as supporting evidence of his breakout year.
But of course, BOS considered his performance at the World Championships as the moment most worthy of the award:
… his moment of true glory came in 2013 at his first World Championships. Seeded 9th in the prelims, Winter impressively swerved his way into the finals and finished the event by taking home the bronze medal.
Additional skiers honored by BOS were Nate Smith (Male Skier of the Year), Erika Lang (Female Junior Skier of the Year) and Josh Briant (Male Junior Skier of the Year). For more details, visit BallofSpray.com.
