GOODE skiers claim nearly half of all slalom medals at Senior Worlds

GOODE skiers put on a dominating performance during this past weekend’s 2012 35+ Water Ski World Championships in Chapala, Mexico, as eight of the 18 slalom medals were won on GOODE skis.

Bruce Dodd (Men’s 55+) and Lori Krueger (Women’s 35+) won gold medals while Stephanie Stange (Women’s 35+), Jeremy Newby-Ricci (Men’s 35+), Shannon Strickland (Women’s 45+), Todd Kuykendall (Men’s 45+), and Kim Contos (Men’s 55+) each won silver medals.  Marc Shaw took third place in Men’s 35+ to earn a bronze.

GOODE’s gold count was nearly even higher as Shannon tied for first place but was edged in a runoff by Jennifer Lapoint.

In Men’s 35+ slalom, GOODE skiers placed second through fifth, as Chad Scott and Todd Johnson joined Jeremy and Marc in the top five.  Jeff Surdej also finished eight in the event as GOODE skiers comprised half of the top 10.

Other GOODE skiers who earned top placements included Alison Poulsen’s fourth place finish in Women’s 45+, Mike Munn’s 10th place finish in Men’s 45+, and Steve Raphael and David Bentall’s fourth- and eighth-place finishes in Men’s 55+.

In the team competition, the Unites States finished first, with Canada second and Great Britain third.

The Senior Worlds marks the second international competition in just the past six weeks in which GOODE skiers have performed exceptionally well.  At the 2012 Malibu Pan Am Championships last month in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., half of all gold medals were won on GOODE skis.
