Water Ski Team Blog

The following is an email excerpt from Paul Donatt, a MENS 5 skier from Southern California.

I wanted to give you an update on the new ski — GOODE 64′ 9900SL Wide Ride-Right. I have been riding this ski now for about 2 1/2 months. I have not written you sooner because I wanted to thoroughly test it.

I have been mainly skiing at 32 and 35 off (but I have also had my best 38′s EVER). I have never skied them as well as I am skiing them on this ski. I find my ski finishes the turn at the ball and gets me to the other side earlier than any other ski.

I have never had more time at the ball (pre turn). The ski has amazing acceleration and swings me wide into the turns. I am skiing with more weight on my front foot. I find myself moving with the boat — my weight going forward in the turn and then I am able to move across instead of back.

Several people have commented on how awesome I am skiing on this ski. My turns are balanced and predictable. Over the past 2 days I ran 15 out of 16 35′s. I started at 35 off both sets.

I wanted to thank you for this opportunity to test this ski. I am having more fun skiing now than ever before!!

Costa Rica Awaits!

Dawn and I just returned from a great adventure to Water Ski Costa Rica. Jim Kilsdonk is a great host and really knows how to treat his guests.

During our week stay in Costa Rica, we made new friends, saw many things, experienced many adventures, laughed a lot, and skied a ton.

I was really happy with the performance of the PowerVest. Dawn had not skied since late September and I had not skied in 5 weeks. In past ‘off-season’ skiing scenarios, I would always feel as if my arms, shoulders and back were being hit with a sledgehammer for the first week of skiing. I was happy that the PowerVest worked perfectly! I only felt a nice ‘glow’ to my upper body muscles!

Many of the guests tried the GOODE 9900SL WIDE RIDE during their stay in Costa Rica. Everyone who tried it either set or tied their Personal Best! The general comments are that the ski is very predictable, stable and turns on a dime!

NEW YORK, NY – Santa Claus was spotted water skiing in the Hudson River in front of the Statue of Liberty recently, despite the cold weather and wintery conditions.

The Statue of Liberty is possibly the most recognized symbol of America to generations of people around the world. Every waterskier will know where Santa is skiing prior to his long trip around the world. We are hoping that he recuperates in January with a waterski trip to warmer climates like Costa Rica.

It is good to see that Santa is staying in shape and skiing on a GOODE Ski!

Happy Holidays!

“There is a big smile stuck on my face since the finals on Sunday and I thank you for making it possible.”, said Ben Favret.

“Your sponsorship and investment into the Big Dawg Series has reinvigorated the sport of water skiing and made it more entertaining for competitors, recreational skiers and sports fans across the world. I have received no less than 100 emails, text messages and phone calls from friends and ski fans with their congratulations and all of them talk about how much they enjoyed the webcast and event. I thank you on their behalf as well.”, Ben continues.

“This 43 year old body is sore after all that skiing this weekend. But it is a good sore, the kind that keeps you wanting more and knowing the work you put into something is working and helping you to achieve your goals. After a few more days off it will be time to start getting ready for next year’s event and I am sure it will be bigger and better than ever with your support!”

When talking about his new GOODE 9900SL, that he rode to the Big Dawg Finals victory, Ben states, “You have to ski good, have strength and endurance and get a little lucky to have a shot at winning in the head to head format. I guess I had the right balance of each on Sunday and got the win. To ski your best four rounds in one day at super short rope you need a ski that is consistent and predictable but still aggressive and fast.”

Ben Favret has been skiing on GOODE Skis ever since the first GOODE 9100 was introduced over 13 years ago.
