Regina’s World Overall Record Approved by IWWF

Team GOODE skier Regina Jaquess’ pending Women’s world overall record has been approved by the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation’s Technical Committee.

Regina set the record of 3,033.01 points by scoring 1-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off in slalom, 8,200 points in tricks and 173 feet in jumping at the Pan American Games last October in Chapala, Mexico.  The mark surpasses the previous record of 2,995.56 points set by Natallia Berdnikava.

Alongside her gold medal in overall, she also took gold in slalom and jumping, and a bronze in tricks to finish atop the water skiing competition’s medal count.

The world overall record isn’t the only addition Regina has made to the record books lately.  On Oct. 1, she set a world slalom record of 2 buoys at 41 feet of while skiing on her GOODE NANO-”twist” with Dual Rocker Technology using PowerShell boots and bindings.

GOODE launches totally redesigned snow ski line for the 2011/2012 season

Continuing its tradition of innovation and performance, GOODE has released a completely redesigned lineup of skis for the 2011/2012 season that promises to have skiers feeling the pure-carbon difference.

Comprised of Men’s and Women’s all-mountain, freeskiing and backcountry models, the skis are 30- to 50-percent lighter than traditional skis, but their carbon construction gives them more than double the physician properties, including strength and torsional rigidity.

That combination plus advances in shaping and construction have resulted in revolutionary lineup, says Dave Goode, founder and president.

“This is the best skiing lineup of products we’ve ever had,” said Dave. “Our entire team really put in a lot of hard work and it’s paid off with skis that we can all be very proud of.”

The industry is seemingly in agreement as the skis are building good buzz within the skiing community. The ski line has been recognized for their performance by editors and gear testers at Ski, Freeskier and Peak magazines, among others.

Among the biggest advances is the introduction of three new rocker patterns – slight, rising and strong – that make the skis easier to turn and effortless to ride. In groomed conditions, rocker allows the ski to drift slightly into the turn before the edge hooks up, while in powder it contributes to increased flotation and ease of turning.

Also new for 2011/2012 is an improved ski “feel,” thanks to all-new wood cores in the alpine skis (all-mountain and freeskiing) and a Light Hellraiser™/Kevlar core in backcountry models.

But perhaps the biggest change isn’t how the skis are made, but where. Earlier this year GOODE moved all of its snow ski manufacturing from China to its plant in Ogden, Utah, making it the only major snow ski manufacturer to make its skis in the United States. The move has increased the company’s ability to closely monitor construction quality, and, says Dave, made it easier to test designs in the nearby Wasatch Mountains and quickly apply them to the products.

“Have our manufacturing facilities so close to world-class skiing is a huge advantage,” said Dave. “We’re able to put a ton of time on the slopes testing and tweaking to make sure that we get the skis exactly where we want them.”

Regina Jaquess’ slalom world record approved by IWWF

Regina Jaquess’ latest Women’s slalom world record is officially in the record books as the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF) has approved her mark of 2 buoys at 41 feet off set Oct. 1, at the Eddie Green Budweiser Oktoberfest in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.

Regina set the new record, surpassing her own previous record of 1.5 buoys at 41 feet off set in 2010, while skiing on the GOODE NANO-“twist” with Dual Rocker Technology using PowerShell boots and bindings.

Regina’s pending world overall record of 3,033.01 points (3 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off, 166 feet and 6,090 points) that she set on her way to winning three golds and a bronze at the Pan American games in October is still under IWWF review.
