GOODE becomes an “Official Sponsor” of the Big DAWG Series for 2009

OGDEN, UTAH – GOODE Skis has announced that it has become an “Official” sponsor of the O’Brien Big DAWG Series, presented by Ski Nautique. GOODE has been a sponsor of the Big DAWG Series since its inception 4 years ago.
 
“GOODE is excited to be officially back onboard with the Big DAWG Series.”, said Dave Goode, President/Founder of GOODE Ski Technologies. “It was a bit awkward at the beginning of this season.”, Goode continues. “O’Brien stepped up to be the title sponsor which left GOODE sitting in the unusual position of having to be a sponsor for a tournament with another ski company holding the title of the series. It took me some time, along with some persistence from Greg Davis, to realize that GOODE really needs to be involved with this great Series as an “Official” event sponsor. GOODE is very proud to be back in 2009!”, Goode concludes.
 
With the two Big DAWG qualifying events complete, the stage is set for the finals, to be held August 13-14, 2009, during the 67th GOODE Water Ski National Championships held at Okeeheelee Park, in West Palm Beach, FL.

More Big DAWG Finalists will be using GOODE Skis than any other brand of water skis. David Miller (CAN) had the highest score in the qualifying events with 4 buoys @ 41′ off and uses a GOODE 9900SL and PowerShell 5 Boots. In 2006, Mike Morgan won the first ever Big DAWG finals event using a GOODE 9800. In 2008, Ben Favret won the Big DAWG finals on his GOODE 9900SL.

GOODE has something very special planned for the Big DAWG Night Head-to-Head Finals. Stay tuned, more to follow….

Jeff Milford Wins Western Regionals – Men’s 3 Slalom

WINDSOR, CO – Jeff Milford (Utah) won the Men’s 3 Slalom event at the Western Regionals that were held at Laku Landing, July 21-24, 2009. Jeff was the #1 seed and ran 1 buoy @ 39.5′ off.

“It was a good day for the Milford Family!”, said Jeff Milford. “This was the first time I have ever been seeded #1 in the Regionals. The top score was 1/2 @39.5′ off and it was really hard just to ski one buoy for the win. I wanted to run the whole pass!”, continued Jeff. “I would not be here if it was not for the GOODE PowerVest, the GOODE 9900SL WIDE RIDE and PowerShell 5 boots. I was the first customer to take delivery of the PowerVest and it has really allowed me to ski more, which has improved my skiing.”, Jeff concludes.

Jeff Milford placed 3rd in the 2004 Western Regionals.

Nick Parsons and Nicole Arthur Win – Alizée Cup – Eurolac, Crozet, France

EUROLAC – CROZET, FRANCE - Nick Parsons and Nicole Arthur win the Alizée Cup in exciting head-to-head night finals. 

Nick Parsons, riding his GOODE 9900SL and PowerShell 5 Boots, had to beat both Will Asher and Chris Parrish for the win. In the finals, Chris Parrish chose to go out first and ran 3 @ 39.5′ off to Nick’s 4 @39.5′ off. Team GOODE Skier, Thomas Degasperi finished 4th place riding his GOODE 9900SL WIDE RIDE and PowerShell 5 Boots . During the first round of the preliminaries, Will Asher ran 1 buoy at 43′off.

The World’s best skiers came to Eurolac to compete for the US $20,000.00 in prize money.

“I just talked to Nick Parsons moments ago.”, said Dave Goode. “He was real excited to win such a prestigious tournament in Europe.”, continues Goode. “He said Eurolac skied great and the water was soft and friendly. We sent Nick over there Wednesday right after the GOODE Ski Lake Tournament with a new 9900SL flex pattern. I am happy to see it perform so well in this event for him.”, concludes Goode.

Team GOODE skier, Nicole Arthur, won using her GOODE 9900SL and PowerShell 5 Boots. Nicole beat Anais Amade in the head-to-head finals. Team GOODE Skier, Clementine Lucine, finished 3rd and was riding her GOODE 9900SL Maika’i.

The Alizée Cup got its name from the lake owner’s daughter, Alizée Paturel.

BIG DAWG Finals – A Large Field of GOODE Skiers

With the two Big DAWG qualifying events complete, the stage is set for the finals,  to be held August 13-14, 2009, during the 67th GOODE Water Ski National Championships held at Okeeheelee Park, in West Palm Beach, FL.

Skiers could get automatic placement  into the Big DAWG Finals based on making the “Sweet-Sixteen” at one of the two qualifying events. The skiers that made the finals this way were; Thierry Malhomme, Scott Greenwood, Chad Scott, Harold Hintringer, Jay Leach, Todd Johnson, Ben Favret, Bruce Dodd, Greg Badal, Mike Baldwin, Jeff Danos, Scot Jones, Chet Raley, Mike Dehlinger, Marc Shaw, Scott Tynan, Kyle Tate, Steve Ware, Kim Contos, Darren Janzig, Jay Leach and Kreg Korinek.

The remaining field of skiers was selected as follows: the first 50 percent based on best single score, and the second 50 percent based on best cumulative scores at any of the two qualifiers.  SEE FINALS SKIERS HERE.

The preliminary rounds for the series championship will be on Thursday, August 13 on the North-South Slalom Lake. The 8-skier head-to-head finals will be held under the lights on Friday, August 14. The final 8 head-to-head can be seen via a live Webcast.

GOODE Announces a New Ski – 62.5″ 9900SL WIDE RIDE

GAINES, MI – GOODE Skis announced a new ski in its line-up, a 62.5″ 9900SL WIDE RIDE, this past weekend, at the Big DAWG qualifer #2 event.

“Normally GOODE waits to announce new skis at the annual GOODE Water Ski National Championships in Mid-August.”, said Dave Goode. “However, with the popularity of the 64″ and the 66″, we felt is was best to release the ski sooner.”, Goode continues. “The 64″ ski has worked well for 34mph/55k skiers in the 160- 190 weight ranges and we wanted lighter skiers to benefit from the WIDE RIDE, too.”

The bottom design of the 62.5″ GOODE 9900SL WIDE RIDE differs from the full edge-to-edge, full concave design found in the 64″ and 66″ WIDE RIDEs. It features a hybrid tunnel design in the forebody of the ski which forms small rails on the bottom edge bevels. It also has a lower tip profile. Like all GOODE skis, it is made of Pure aerospace grade CARBON Fiber.

The 62.5″ GOODE 9900SL WIDE RIDE is now available for order and shipments will be made on a first ordered, first shipped basis. The 62.5″ GOODE 9900SL WIDE RIDE is also available as part of GOODE’s $25.00 Demo Program that expires on July 31, 2009.

Regina Jauqess Interview with Dave Goode – World Records

Regina Jaquess Ties the Women’s Slalom World Record (Pending) and Sets the Women’s Overall World Record (Pending) on a GOODE 9900SL Water Ski and PowerShell Boots.  

Interview with Dave Goode – July 3-4, 2009;  From Ogden, UT, Dave Goode interviews Regina who is at the Cory Pickos Ski Center, in Santa Rosa Beach, FL.

Regina slalomed 1 @ 41off / 10.25m, tricked 7,350, and jumped 170.

Jay Leach Sets South Central Regional Record (pending)

COVINGTON, LA – Jay Leach set a new AWSA South Central Men’s 3 Record (pending) by running 3 buoys @ 41′ off/10.25m last weekend at Ski Ranch.

Two weeks ago, Jay tied the previous record of 2.5 buoys @ 41′off/10.25m held by Chad Scott.

Jay was riding his 9900SL WIDE RIDE and PowerShell 5 boots.

Jay wrote a text to Dave Goode, “Just broke a Regional Record at the Ski Ranch with 3@41. Thanks for a great ski!” The next day, Jay wrote Dave the following text, “Just ran another 3@41′ off and went to 4 and hit 4 ball. It will go down this year.”

Regina Jaquess ties Women’s World Record – 1@41′off

SANTA ROSA BEACH, FL – Regina Jaquess (USA) tied the Women’s World Record (pending) – 1 buoy @ 41′off. Regina accomplished this feat in the second round of a World Record Capable three-event tournament this weekend at Cory Pickos lakes.

When approved, Regina will join Kristi Overton-Johnson (USA) and Karina Nowlan (AUS) as a co-world record holder. Kristi Overton-Johnson originally set the Record on Sept. 14, 1996 and was riding a GOODE 9100. Nowlan tied the record on Sept. 21, 2008 and was riding a GOODE 9800SL with PowerShell 4 Boots. Regina rode a GOODE 9900SL and PowerShell 5 boots during her World Record run.

Last weekend, Regina was selected to the 2009 U.S. Elite Water Ski Team following the conclusion of the 2009 U.S. Water Ski Team Trials, June 19-21, in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. The six-member team will compete in the 31st Water Ski World Championships, Aug. 4-9, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

Dawn and Dave were at a water ski tournament in Utah when Dave’s cell phone received an incoming phone call from Regina. “I have something to tell you!”, Regina told Dave. “I just ran 1@41′off! I am so excited! I am still dripping wet but I just had to let you know right away!”, continued Regina. “I just love my GOODE 9900SL and new PowerShell 5 boots. Thank you for building such great skis and boots!”

Regina has a long list of slalom wins, including the 2005 World Championships (she was riding a GOODE 9600) and the 2008 Masters (she was riding a GOODE 9800SL).

GOODE Skis Win 4th of July Snow Ski Race

HUNTSVILLE, UT – GOODE Skis win the annual 4th of July snow ski race held at the Snowbasin Ski Resort today.

GOODE Skis finished 1st and 2nd in the women’s open division and 2nd  in the men’s open division.

“Dawn and I had the fastest times for anyone over 50 years old.”, said Dave Goode. ”We both had the 2nd fastest run of the day overall, too!”, Goode continues. “It was fun to be in a water ski tournament yesterday and then a snow ski race here today! Happy 4th of July to everyone!”, concludes, Goode.

Dawn raced on a pair of 155cm GOODE C-64 Race Skis and 10.4 Pure CARBON Fiber ski poles. Dave raced on a pair of 175cm GOODE C-64 Race Skis and 10.4 Pure CARBON Fiber ski poles.
